This workshop helps participants to value diversity by creating an understanding of the benefit derived from having workgroups that are composed of all types of people. Participants discover the benefit to themselves, their workgroups, and the organization. The workshop is composed of a series of experiential activities that demonstrate three key concepts:

  • A diverse workgroup results in greater creativity.
  • Similarities and differences between individuals are the result of personal value systems and motivators, not physical or aesthetic differences.
  • Open and honest communication is the key to being able to work effectively with all types of people.

  • These concepts will be highlighted in the following exercises/discussions:

  • Explore our individual values and how those affect our relationships.
  • Completion of a diversity style survey.
  • Overview of the legal aspects of EEO and Affirmative Action.
  • A model for building teams using the strength of diversity.
  • A conflict-management style inventory.
  • How style diversity can enhance successful negotiations
